Bokeh
Cute how that word has spread across deviantart.
I been a fan of the art form for a long time, just not always get around to do one with drops.
Taken handheld in sunlight on a flower in my garden, out of 70 shots this is the one i like the most.

Used RAW here, since i hear so much good about it.
Must say it is good for some contrast adjustment indeed.
Contrast, slight color change, grain removal and crop for square.

Since some had comments on these earlier i just state it again, the light circles are Not added in photoshop, they are straight out of the camera. wikipedia.org has a good definition on Bokeh: [link]

Thats about it, any feedback and question is welcome and very appreciated.

Lovely!

I love how the bokeh pretty much takes over the picture, but still has the colour so you can see what the picture is of. :]

The suggested form of the flower against the crystal raindrops....perfection! And I don't think I have said that about a photo before.

I really like the bokeh in this shot. I love how the out of focus water droplets make the picture look like it's shining.

Yeah, I've been a fan of bokeh for a while, but I must admit I'd never actually knew the name for it until about a week or so ago when :iconex-po-sure: posted about a game it's doing now with bokeh. I had learned about it and how to achieve it in class, but we just talked about it as depth of field. But yeah, I used to try to achieve it in my macro shots, but it was nearly impossible when using macro mode in my powershot since I had virtually no control over the aperture/shutter speed, but now that I have a real macro lens (100mm f/2.8 canon) I am getting lots of out of focus backgrounds. :-D

Isn't that funny? The first time I heard it was when you did a poll including the term... so I went and looked it up. Since then, I have seen it every where on people's journals and art! I think it is beautiful, and definitely enjoy looking at it... just wondering if it was more popular out of nowhere, or it's just one of those things where as soon as you know about it, you see it all the time.

Beautiful photo, by the way. Always amazed by your art.

i see a couple around the photography section every now and then. most often i see bokeh textures being added to decorate portraits. idk..i feel the urge to appreciate more of the real stuff. sometimes it works really well with the picture so i don't mind that much when people use it either.

You have to set it to RAW at your camera , right? It is nothing you can do with photoshop later? (ok I guess thats a stupid question, sorry but I honestly don't know:blushes:)
but can I use that with each camera?

:iconsortvind:

Nothing is stupid for me, so no worries :)
Yes, the camera has to be set to RAW mode, you can not turn a jpg in to a raw.
Not all cameras has RAW, what camera do you use?

a sony cybershot, I have just looked for the RAW mode but it doesn't have one (or at least I didn't find it:))
but it's got TIFF is that the same?

Im afraid it is not the same. TIFF is lossless, and better quality then jpg though. :) What cybershot model do you have?
