Inspired by the Death Note series, some might not see the reference, but it is there.

This piece is excellent composition-wise. It draws the focus immediately to the die, without subtracting from the rest of the piece. Interesting tribute to the series Death Note, really; very abstract, yet not. I immediately thought of Near's obsession with dice. Howevver that's not the only reference to Death Note in this picture Even the color scheme itself brings to mind the Death Note series, the way I see it. It's dark, with high contrast, but the cool tones make it as thoughtful as it is dark and dreary, instead of merely dark or even frightening. This is a piece that most fans of Death note would think to do.

While I could go on and on about Death Note, I'll instead comment on your continued technical excellence. I do love how the die is perfectly in focus, the shadows curving around the palm of the hand. The diffusion that you may naturally have with your lens or may have done in Photoshop..(either way it's still very complimentary to the piece.) The blue creates a wonderful dream-scape for people to get lost in, perhaps the hand is beckoning someone to take a chance with a life or death situation, or perhaps you could say that death is playing a game, the numbers represent people, and he/she is deciding who lives or dies.

Either way you would like to slice it, I'm quite proud of your works, I do hope to be as technically excellent as you one of these days.

Keep up the great composition!

To be honest, I thought first of Einstein's "God does not play dice with the universe" quotation, and didn't think of Near at all until I read the comments, but that could just be because I avoid the second arc whenever possible. XD In any case, it's a beautiful photo, and it links back to Death Note in more ways than just those two.
