Artist's Comments

Photo i took a while ago, but never got around to upload it.
I like how the bird stood out from the background here, it was a hard one to capture.
The dots you see in the back are other birds, it was a massive amount of them that day.

Post-processing in photoshop cs2.
B/W conversion, toned with curves and blurred the background more using lensblur. also added vignette for better mood.

any questions about equipment or post-processing, just let me know and i will do my best to reply.

I appreciate all sorts of feedback :aww:

Oh wow that's a very very good shot. I like it how the bird stands out, too. And the focus is great! The colors fits very good to it. And it seems that the bird looks to you. And the importan question: How did you get it that sharp? :D Or, how many attempts did you need? :giggle:

Really cool pic!

Thank you for the feedback :aww: Due to 1/400 shutter speed the movement was not a issue. It was a very bright day, so i could underexpose without worrying about black areas. And since i wanted a dark look, i took the shutter faster then the camera "recommended". i used a 75-300 mm canon lens here, it is a really cheap lens, but it works great. Around 300 dollars in Norway.
Much cheaper if you go on the web.

The only thing stopping it from being as sharp as i wanted was the lack of contrast. So when i boosted the contrast in the image, the pixels looks much sharper, and it is better to look at. It is the main thing i do on my photos, always make sure the contrast is at its best, without out burned areas.

Got the shot at around 5-7 tries, i am patient, and rather wait for the right moment, then go wild and shoot random.

Hope that was helpful :D

Thank you Scandi :aww: the weather is a bitch lately, though i think all sorts of weather have something good to it.
Now it is Drink-tea-and-be-a-geek-weather. Kind of falls naturally for me :D

I agree there was alot of rain In Forsand it became a game to walk to the store down the street without getting soaked. So we stayed in alot and watched TV. Nothing wrong with Tea and Geekiness, I am guilty of that myself.
