I know I have been quite inactive the past month, alot of private stuff going on and upcoming exams, but I will try to be more active again from now on. Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

There are two ways to write a novel. Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind). So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me? Pantser? I think? But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid. And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly. And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. SPIKE updatesJust thought I'd share with you guys some updates on the progress of finishing my "SPIKE" novel.
A lot of people have asked me how it's going, when it will be published and stuff. I really appreciate getting asked these things because it shows that people are actually interested in my writings, and that it just such a great feeling

I've got two news for you guys today though: one bad news and one good news. Let's start with the bad news.
I haven't finished writing SPIKE yet.
And I honestly don't know when it will be finished - which oddly enough brings us to the good news:
I've made a new, major decision in the SPIKE story that I think a lot of you will be happy to hear. As usual I don't want to spoil too much, but there is a part in the story where Spike and Sam are separated from each other for quite a long while. Fake Pageviews?

^{Something i have been wondering about for a while, is it normal to fake page views here?
By fake, i mean getting a auto reload page through various IP to increase the page view number.
i Seen some profiles on the today page with 10 thousands of views every day ( i am not gonna mention which profiles i refer to ) with very little views on deviations.
Some i saw a while back had a average of 100 views per deviation and 30 000 views that day.
Logic is missing.

I like seeing my page views because it is fun to see the different number of visitors depending on images i upload, and how active i am, but i don`t see the point in faking it.

Somehow 8000 was my "goal" a while, i have a thing for the number 8.

I am thinking about setting up a email account for commission work and for people and galleries e.t.c to contact me. yep, i will do just that.

There are far many ways to fake pageviews, favorites and even watchers on DA.

For pageviews: botnets, DoS, UDP floods, proxies...

Favorites, watchers: XSS, SQLi...

But why do they do these for?

There is a way to do it without faking IP addresses etc. The reason why some people have too many pageviews for what is believable is because of their favouriting, what they do is they go onto the main deviantart page and drag as much as they can to the favourites box, they probably constantly add these images to their favourites and because of the politeness of people commenting "thanks for the fav" on their profile, they automatically get a pageview. The next time you see an incomprehendable, unbelievable amount of pageviews, check the amount of favourites they have, for example their is a person who has 1,000,000 pageviews but he/she has favourited 300,000 deviations

people can get banned for running favorite saving scripts, it's not an uncommon thing because it can run so fast the server backs out and locks down the "bot" account.
A good example to getting pageviews is right in my signature....I'll check your gallery out just for the hell of it, hahah.

Ahem...

Using scripts isn't the only way. In fact it's getting old now...

Proxy software works perfectly without being detected. Or another way, flood the page by sending massive of requests through multiple ports (e.g UDP); well, extremely hard to detect unless the admins blindly want to ban someone without evidences.

Hi Steel,

dA has had some pageview bugs, but I don't know if they've had any lately. The strangest one was with the slide shows. I don't have and have never had a slide show, but my best female friend her set hers up and we watched the pageview counter go up at I think it was more than six per minute.

She only uploads a few deviations per year, and in actuality has very few visitors. She kind of liked it, but she decided she better inform the Help Desk. They were aware of it and she just watched that count go up and up until the bug was fixed.
