Something i have been wondering about for a while, is it normal to fake page views here? By fake, i mean getting a auto reload page through various IP to increase the page view number. i Seen some profiles on the today page with 10 thousands of views every day ( i am not gonna mention which profiles i refer to ) with very little views on deviations. Some i saw a while back had a average of 100 views per deviation and 30 000 views that day. Logic is missing.
I like seeing my page views because it is fun to see the different number of visitors depending on images i upload, and how active i am, but i don`t see the point in faking it.
Oh, and i am close to my 8000 watcher now! I am totally Somehow 8000 was my "goal" a while, i have a thing for the number 8.
I am thinking about setting up a email account for commission work and for people and galleries e.t.c to contact me. yep, i will do just that. mhm, i am so up myself i actually demand people to want to buy my work
All feedback, fav, comments are very appreciated. I reached the point where i don`t have time to reply, but i read them all. if there is anything you want me to answer, just drop me a note. Thank you for supporting me
I wonder sometimes if the pageview counter counts one's own views. I view my page alot, simply cos it's easier for me to access stuff like my journal, submit a deviation, etc. through that way. If there's a competition for something though, you can bet on it that people are going to find a way to cheat.
I don't care much for pageviews. It's more about making a connection with people. Just yesterday I gave a deviant some advice and she was grateful and said I was good at giving it. It made me feel 20 times better then getting a high number of pageviews.
the 'fake' number is the amount people visit your main page i think, not how many people visit your gallery or deviations. It almost makes me not want to show off any of my personal favorite works featured on my front page, because then people can cheat, and they don't have to go to your gallery, because they can see a good summary of your work without leaving your main page..
i have noticed that in my own page views, it seems like everytime i go look at my page it adds a page view. i like to know how many people look at my page as well but if its counting my views its just misleading and i hate that.
I don't understand why people get so hung up about pageviews to begin with. All the pageview is, is a number that signifies how many peolpe clicked to see your main page, not deviations. I have somewhere around 130k pageviews and they mean absolutely nothing to me. the # that does hold some significance is total deviation views, which mine are reaching nearly 500k.
people need to ask themselves what's more important, the world looking at your main page, with stamps and wishlists and journals, or actually looking at your work.
lets take this one step further though, the deviation views still don't mean squat if people aren't commenting or faving, if there is no interaction then what is the point of the # of views really.
sorry for the ramble, just have never understood why people put so much importance on a # that doesn't matter
Maybe they get a lot of pageviews by saying bizarre things or linking their page a lot (or +faving things so people come to their page to comment) and then when people get to their page, they see that their work sucks, so they don't click on any deviations. haha.
I don't see the point of faking it, either. Sure lots of people judge it on how many pageviews they have, but it doesn't actually make you more popular in DA if you were to fake them. Faking +favs would work better for that.
Faking pageviews seems silly to me! Being a literature person, I have only about 20 watchers and 2,600 pageviews. I like to know that some people are clicking by, and I love comments even more. Faking it would take the fun out of views in the first place.
I advertised a simple and effective way to earn pageviews in my journal...
Also, for some people, like some whomake flash games, they have their games used by other sites, who link to their deviantart mainpage, so external users just click on the page, but don't really go into the gallery, they already played the game on that other site.
Sometimes its the same for people who make great digital art etc, but sure, there are fakers.
hm thats dA. so much here is fake. just look at the dA frontpage with the "most popular" (last 24/8/whatever hours or days). There is so many real non art in there. it's all about how many friends you have and which connections to some more famous people over here. you do not get pagesviews that fast just because of good work! oh and btw. under 10.000 the pageviews are really slowly growing up. i think thats also some managed stuff. i am not sure. but i really saw it at my own account that days. but i think pageviews say nothing. comments to the images (more then nice and so on of course) are more important for the artist behind the work.
Yea.. I don't understand the thing with the pageviews either.. What use is it to fake them?
With people with lots of pageviews I tend to be not so supportive as to the ones with lower pageview numbers.
Beside your art won't be seen more often with pageviews.. And I am proud a bit every time I look at my pageviews and think that so many ones dropped by just for my art.. (and some randomly) If I faked them.. I could not be proud of the number.. stupid fakers
i know the problem -.- the father of my sons faked the views from my most-seen-deviation, because at first it was a photo from our sons...very angry about, how i should know which of my arts is the best one when peaple fake???
I've also seen the deviants that do it. I have no intention of doing it myself because like u said, what's the point. I love to see who visited my profile and i admit i love to see how many people are watching my work. (almost 100) And to me their opinions and inputs count. Furthermore i like to stay in contact with them so we chat often. Pageviews is good to check out but not so much that it becomes an obsession, like "those deviants".
