:wtf:

The last days i have been trying to browse dA for stolen art and report it, and i am horrified to say that some are even stupider than i thought possible.

here are some of the responses i got:

"Wtf, ur lame" (when someone stole my work and claimed it as their own)

"it is stock, i found it on google" (i am not even gonna explain how lame that one is)

"someone asked a deviant with stolen work how photographed the shots, the deviant replied: i uses my eyes and imagination"..IMAGINATION?! It is not imagination to upload someones work..

*sigh* I am gonna continue report though, and we all should.
though i was they had a cyber-punch someone in the face option for premium members.

Yeah, art theft is a pain, and Bravo for taking the time to seek and report these things.

Do you really get those kinds of responses? I didn't think people get get any lower, I thought the theft of others work was low enough.

I must say, I agree with the cyber-punch option!!

You may want to join this Group that I belong to. You'll soon learn that some of the thieves get a kick out of being caught and they love making fun of people who catch them. It's like a game. Then they're banned and they re-join immediately under another name:

this experience is so terrible! but hey, try to see it as a flattery. the biggest wish of those people who steal is to be able taking photos like you do and they would give everything to have this aptitude. anyway, nobody can avoid art gets stolen as soon as it's published in the web. we have to take this risk.

Man, I hate those people! :furious:
It's really great though, that you're reporting them! Go get them all, and then you can cyber-punch them in the face with a cactus or something. :evillaugh:
Anyway you're doing a really great thing, keep it going! :iconyaysplz:

I agree, of course, that stupidity is prevalent. Despite the lack of decency and imagination of a few, I think that those individuals putting themselves out there and making quality work should not be dismayed. There are always those that wish to use others and take advantage of certain situations, but I consider that (and them) almost irrelevant. Keep doing what your doing :)

actually, i think i would be happy about it if i found something like that out. i don't know what law is applicable on deviantart (though i'm guessing US law?) but at least where i live, with a copyright lawsuit for a single picture you can make a pretty penny. i wouldn't even bother sending them a notice... i'd need the money anyway...

as awful and appalling it is, there's a bright side; my mum always says that the best compliment a man can give another man's work is through copying them.

grahh.!
thieves in the real world and the cyber world..

just wondering,

if someone reports stolen art, is DA giving a warning to the person who stole the art or can they immediately deactivate the person's account??
and
what about a DA Constitution/DA police?? to have a strict rule reprimand those who steal art, bully others etc. (this is kinda idealistic though =[ )

the nerve of some people. i mean i can understand if people just want to show amazing work they 'found of the internet' but just claiming the stolen pic is just ridiculous. stealing is not a great way to get attention >.<

I hate when people take things from DA and post it onto photobucket around three bamillion times then post it on random sites... It really pisses me off, not like it's ever happened to my art, but still.. it's stupid.

Thank you for watching out for artist on DA. :]

I've seen people decry those who report violations and claim that ripping artwork is our right to free speech and that people who help get rid of rips are helping big brother. True story.

*fisted with a cactus

Some people are plain dumb/assholes/ignorant. I've had my share of those too.

I'm not sure if you have heard of this, but I'll tell you the most ridiculous art theft story I've ever heard: some dude found some photos on a website, and decided he wanted to use those photos for his website. He didn't ask permission, and he didn't even save/upload the images, he just hotlinked them. The original owner had no idea of this and after some time, he (the original owner) decided to take down those photos. Not long after that, he gets sued by the thief, on account that he removed the photos he (thief) was using for his website.
